An interesting article for you to check out.............
Thu Oct 22, 2009 4:54 pm by lilgirllost
I wanted to let you guys know, there is a very good article I found today that I wanted to share with everyone. It is under the INSPIRATIONAL STORIES & QUOTES section of the forum instead of the ARTICLES section because it deals with a former opiate addicts story of recovery.

It just shows once again there are plenty of positive stories out there about ORT (opiate replacemenet therapy).

I have said it before, there are pros and there are cons to ORT, anyone who has ever been in treatment or dealt w/addiction knows this. But for those who have been an addict for many years and/or tried cognitive behavior treatment without success and all you are left with is either ORT or being an addict, I will choose ORT any day.

Opiate addiction is like no other addiction in that you actually cause physical problems (I won't go into all the details about opiate receptors and all of that.......you guys already know all of that) but that is why some of us have such a hard time kicking opiate addiction.

I don't want to be on methadone my whole life, but I also understand that it may come to that. If it means staying on it my whole life or going back to what I was, then there IS no choice!

ANYHOW! Off my soap box! You guys be sure and check out the article I posted under Inspirational stories and if you decide you want to share your story with us, we would love to hear it!
