Using heroin and methadone

I started methadone script a few weeks ago and settled on 30ml a day - this was fine until about 10 days ago when i stupidly started using about 0.4g's of heroin on top... I naively thought if i stopped taking the heroin that the methadone would hold me, i have realised that i was kidding myself... When i went without the heroin i started to go into withdrawal, not nearly as bad as i would of without the methadone. My question is (and i realise that it probably varies between user and quntities have a large part to play in it) how long will it take until the methadone starts to hold me again and the withdrawal effects to subside?

I can't find any answers on the net using a rudimentary google sdearch, im off work for a week and am really worried this may spill into next week as this is all ew territory for me... Any answers would be hugely appreciated. Thanks. Chris x x x

Are you attending a clinic or did you get a prescription from your doctor for methadone? I would suggest finding a clinic near where you live and start out that way if your not already attending one. Once you start the clinic you should be allowed to raise your dose to an amount to alleviate your cravings and eliminate withdrawal.

If you started using after settling in on 30mg a day it sounds like the dose you settled on was not the appropriate dose for you.  
There is no quick fix to addiction. Medication along with suggested therapy would be a good start.
Yes, it can and usually is a hassle to attend the clinic setting daily but in the long run it would be worth it.

I think he might be outside the U.S. 30ml of methadone is NOT the same as 30mg of methadone... Depending on formulation/concentration, 30ml could equal different amounts in mg's. At my program it's 10mg per 1ml, but there are other formulations where it's 5mg per 1ml and even 1mg per 1ml...

I see what you are saying Zac and thank you for pointing that out. I had assumed 30mg not seeing the ml. Reading too fast will do that.

I know exactly what you mean... I try to keep up with all the methadone forums best I can, and I've been known to fly through them and then make a comment that has NOTHING to do with the subject! LOL.
