Hi there
I'm so glad I've found this site and just hope I don't overwhelm you with too many questions!!  I've been on MMT for about 8 years and am thinking of increasing the dose but there are a lot of other issues that need addressing first.
I also have chronic HCV and problems arising from that. I don't drink anymore and live  (for me at least) a life of quiet sobriety (I partied enough for 10 people in my youth so I've put the hours in!)

I've had two periods of opiate use, one when I was 19 and in college which was quite brief but did involve intravenous use, and then later in my mid forties when I started self medicating with synthetic opiates for back pain and remembered how great it feels and how it gets rid of anxiety as well so that became a full blown addiction and I was using street heroin as well as synthetic but not intravenously this time. Not proud of relapsing in middle age but now I'm on MMT the pluses far outweigh the minuses for me as it keeps my mood steady better than anything else out there and I can think clearly on it.

I work from home doing bits of freelance research, mainly for poilitical campaign groups, but I don't really have a steady income.
I realise the time difference will be a factor in my interaction with you all on here (although I've noticed that there are some other UK members) but I look forward to getting to know you and learning from you.
Can I also just say that I do know of the advocate site in the UK and am also a member of that but my questions are more to do with research about the effects of MMT on the body and brain rather than issues around prescribing so I thought I'd widen my net to get as much expertise as possible!
Best wishes
Sue x
