THOUGHT FOR THE DAY 7/20/09

There are days when I wake up and everything seems to be going wrong from the time I step out of the bed. I step my feet out of the bed to find I end up putting my foot in cat puke. When I get in the shower I find that there is no hot water left after everyone else had their turn before me, the AC until quits working and the temp outside is 98 degrees and I can't get a repairman till the next day and on the way into town to pay the electric bill that will be cut off that day if it isn't paid, I get a flat tire and I know we don't have the money to buy a new one, so many things are going wrong and I think WHY ME???

Just when I think things can't get any worse, I stop for a minute and think........WAIT! This actually could be worse! Yeah, I stepped in cat puke when I first got out of bed, but at least I wasn't waking up from a night of tossing and turning with withdrawl symptoms wondering how in the world I am going to get my first fix that morning, yeah I got into a cold shower but it sure beats having the cold sweats and chills, yes, the AC quit working and the repairman won't get here till tomorrow but at least I know I won't be running around trying to get my fix for the day so I can be here when he actually comes, yeah, I may be paying my light bill at the very last minute but at least I CAN pay my light bill because I haven't spent all our money trying to get the pills that would get me through the day.

I still have my husband and my two wonderful boys in my life. My husband is not having to wonder and worry about what I am doing all day. He doesn't have to worry about being called in to the bosses office at work to have someone tell him that his wife has been caught forging scripts at the local pharmacy or stealing pills from someone who really needs them and the best news of all??? I DID NOT USE TODAY!

So no matter how bad the day may be going, hang on to the fact that you have gotten through this day and did not use. It may not seem like much in the scope of things when your day is going all wrong, but think of where you would be otherwise and be thankful for your sobriety!
