Hello mya,
My name is Dee, and I am happy to meet you.
I'd also like to congratulate you on your schooling. To be able to go into recovery with an open mind, seek the help needed, work the program and stay in recovery in itself makes you a success story.
Be proud of yourself.
I do know of one person that attended a clinic in Alabama, she was completely program compliant. Before Methadone she had been in a lot of trouble with the law, after Methadone she stayed out of trouble, and continued to progress. She was re-building her life and doing so well.
The day came that she was told either she go off of Methadone or loose her children. Not knowing what to do, she tapered off of Methadone. She has been off of it for quite some time now. But to this day she suffers horrible cravings and anxiety.
Going back on Methadone is not an option for her, not if she wants to keep custody.
I think it all depends on the person and what their experiences have been. i know that does not completely answer your question but I hope it has helped some.
Yours in recovery,
Dee
