| Hiiiiiii I'm new here.Been on MMT for about 7 months. My first time on mm.The clinic I go to is my first experience,so it's all I know. I have no complaints.I think the staff is very friendly and caring.Haven't had any problems to date. They recently merged their 2 clinics to just one in the city proper. So now merging two clinic populations there is a bit of a wait as before I was in and out in about 30 seconds. But that's due to the economy.so I understand the situation. So I'm learning how the program works. Have achieved 3 take homes in the short time I've been involved. I am treated with respect and with kindness.I rate my clinic tops for that. I 'm working hard on myself because I don't want to be tied to another drug for years. If I don't have a goal ,it simply becomes replacement for me,not true recovery. But I understand others feel differently and I speak only for myself. Thanks for reading. Dara | |

| Thanks so much for sharing you clinic experience with us. It sounds like you are one of the lucky ones who have a really good clinic! You are right, only you can determine what is best for you. Other people may feel differently or think differently but ultimately it is YOU that has to decide what is best for you and not allow other people to influence your decision. I too do not want to stay on MMT for my entire life, (I have been on for over 9 yrs) but I also understand from my failed attempts before to stay clean with no ORT, that if I HAVE to, I will stay on it forever if it's the only way to keep from going back to that lifestyle again. Thanks again for sharing and hope to hear from you again soon! | |

| i've been on mmt for almost 2 & a half years (start date 05/10/2007). i think everyone has their own idea of how long they need to be on mmt. what is right for me isn't right for everyone else. it's up to the patient to know when they are ready to quit. i know that i am in no way ready to come off of it yet. i am doing pretty good. some days are better than others. i've been on 28 days takehome (our highest level) since june 09. pretty good since you have to be in treatment for 2 years clean to attain this level. but there are days when i struggle & have cravings & crazy dreams about opiates. i try to get thru it the best i can. i'm with RuthAnn when she says if she has to stay on methadone for the rest of her life to avoid going back to the opiate addiction lifestyle, she will. me too! | I see the need to reiterate something here. I stated that I spoke for myself regarding the length of time. Second the topic is rating one's clinic, not length of time on mmt. I've learned that when one is comfortable with a decision there is no need to become defensive about it. I think it's wonderful to have earned the takehomes you have pritty.I'm doing very well on that myself considering the time I;ve been with the clinic. But I have more and larger goals than just that. That being just one stepping stone on my personal recovery journey. | |
