Hi everyone! My name is Seth and I am an alcoholic and a drug addict. I have been on MMT since April 13, 2009 and since then I have been clean from opiates. My troubles with drugs are long and detailed, but I have had many. Last year I overdosed on Xanax and alcohol after a crack cocaine binger. I was rushed to the hospital when I was found in my room after passing out on my right arm for 18 hours. I ended up in emergency surgery, a faciotomy to help releive the compartment syndrome I developed as a result of passing out on my arm for 18 hours. I left the hospital over 2 weeks later with prescriptions for 80mg Oxycontin 3 times per day, 20 mg oxycodone every 2-3 hours, 1200 mg neurontin a day along with my normal antidepressant and sleep meds. I was eventualy put on the Fentanyl patch after a few trips to the hospital from abusing my meds, they thought I would not abuse the fentanyl patch, oh were they wrong. I eventually cut open and swallowed the contents of 2 patches, the 100ug ones, the strongest ones along with about 200 mg oxycodone and a few oxycontin. That was the closest I came to dying, I almost didn't make it back from that one. I was then put on methadone 90 mg and was doing well so I quit it cold turkey, only to have many relapses and a few more near death overdoses. I went to inpatient treatment a 2nd time and outpatient treatment. I was told I would be dead in 6 months if I didn't go back on MMT, so I did. I have been stable at 160mg (I take 80mg twice a day, split dosing) for many months. I did have a relapse on Valium and crack but have been clean since that, around 4 months. I do alot for my recovery, but I know methadone has worked wonderful. The cravings are gone and my depression is better and I sleep better, everything is better. I have no sedation or euphoria or any negative side effects other than profuse sweating, I also take lexapro and that makes me sweat also. I have been prescribed vicodin once for a pulmonary embolism and it worked and I had no desire to abuse it, I tried that when I was first on MMT and there is no getting high, which is how I want it. I could go on and on, but I won't. I am open to any questions or conversations and would love to talk to some of you. I hope this tells a little bit of why I am on MMT, to save my life!

Hi Seth! My name is RuthAnn and I moderate for the group. Thanks so much for sharing some of your story with us, it isn't always easy to talk about these kinds of things, especially when we have to take an honest look at ourself so thank you for doing it.
Your story sounds so familiar in many ways! I don't know why it should surprise me even still to hear other ppl say some of the same things I was thinking or feeling during the active part of my addiction. I use to feel so alone and like I was the only one who felt this way, so it's always such a comfort to hear of others who felt the same way or did the same things as I did. At least then I know I wasn't the only one so I was crazy! lol!
I hope to hear more from you around the forum. A lot of times ppl join at first because of a crisis or stressful situation going on in their life and then when the crisis is over, we don't hear from them anymore...........I hope that isn't the case with you and that we can hear more from you in the future.
The only way we are going to be heard as MMT pts is to band together and that is one of the main things we hope to accomplish with this group, so please don't hesitate to make posts. If you happen to find an interesting article or you hear of some new rule or law that concerns MMT or you just want to complain about something.........we want to hear from you!
Anyway, thanks for sharing your story with us and we are so glad to have you join our group.
See you around the forum!
