| We have another new member to welcome to the group. She goes by the username Amelia and is from South Carolina. She says that she has been on MMT long enough to go once a week. She also said that methadone has helped her so much but she feels like others think badly of her for being on methadone. We all can relate to that one can't we? I bet we all have at least one story about a time when we have also felt this way.
Amelia you have nothing to be ashamed of. You have taken a huge and brave step getting into recovery at all. You have been doing so well so don't let those ppl take that away from you. If MMT works for you then try not to think about how they feel about it. There is always going to be someone out there that will try to bring you down no matter what the situation is. Those ppl have things within their own lives that they are ashamed of and make themselves feel better by trying to bring someone else down. You KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AMELIA!
Please know that we are here for you. This is a wonderful group of ppl who will support you in your recovery no matter what. It isn't alwasy easy and we may make mistakes but no one here is going to judge you.
Please make yourself at home. If you wish to speak to someone you can either post to the forum or if you want to speak privately you can use the private message feature. We are always here and available to you 24/7 so please don't hesitate.
Take care now and I hope to see you around the forum and KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! You have absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of and SO MUCH to be proud of!

| Many welcomes to you Amelia! It is good to have you hear with us. Make yourself at home and feel free to read the postings of the other members, when you are comfortable please tell us about yourself and how you are doing. I know that being new to a forum can be a little difficult at first, not knowing what to say or where to say it can be a little overwhelming. But I promise you, once you get started it gets easier.
When I first started taking Methadone I thought I was just switching one drug for another because that is what I had always heard over and over again from people who knew nothing about Methadone or addiction. One day I sat down with my counselor and the director of the clinic that I was attending and they told me, I had nothing to be ashamed of. I take Synthroid for Hyperthyroidism and medication for high blood pressure. And when they said that, it began to sink in that I am managing my addiction just like I manage my blood pressure and thyroid.
You have nothing to be ashamed of. You are in recovery and THAT is something to be proud of and celebrate. Best wishes to you, Dee
