Got my P&K results back today if you know anything about the figures please read and give feedback

Well today my counselor got the results to that mandatory P&K she said they were in normal range but I think I read that someone was decreased over their peak being 700 so I don't know if I believe her. She said Doctor will be seeing them tomorrow and he may schedule an appointment to see me next week. So my peak was 880 and my trough was 225. Anybody know anything about the readings. Oh my counselor did say the doctor doesnt really like a peak over a 1000. Whatever that means she told me normal was between 225 and 1000 for peak (Big Normal Eange) but if 1000 is bad to the doc why would 1000 be called normal range? REMEMBER I DID NOT ASK FOR P&K SOMEONE ORDERED IT ALL IN THE SAME DAY A PHYSICAL AND AN EKG ETC....AND REMEMBER I HAD A 7am APPT WITH DIRECTOR OVER THE GRIEVANCE I FILED, HE NEVER SHOWED UP. I waited almost an hour but I live hour away and i waited long as i could. I called his voice mail and told him to call me I could make myself available by phone anytime and by appoinment we could agree another time. He never called I am beginning to think that they are indeed trying to run me off.

Usually, patients need to have a trough blood level higher than 200 – 400 ngm/ml to stay out of withdrawal at the end of a dosing cycle. Some patients need higher levels. And a peak level that is more than two times the trough level indicates that the patient is metabolizing methadone quickly, and may need to increase the dose or consider split dosing.

So if my trough was 225 I am at the bottom end of adequate dose

and 880 is almost four times the trough level so I am metabolizing it quickly????

Everything that I have been able to read says the same thing as Dr. Payte
It does appear that you are a rapid metabolizer of methadone. You may benefit from split dosing. I am going to send you a link to a publication that talks alittle more in detail about the peak and trough if that is okay with you. This way you can read up on it for yourself so you will be better able to talk to your director when you do get the chance.

Did anyone give you an explanation as to why the meeting did not go on as planned?

No I left a message that I would be available by phone anytime and I could come back over at his convenience no reply. He was the one that set the appt. up not me. See they give me every reason to believe they do not want me at their clinic etc...

As much as I hate to say it, I would be thinking the same thing.
It appears they just don't give a damn. If you had an appointment at any other medical facility, would you be left to wait an hour over the scheduled appointment time without any explanation of what was going on or being told the director had something come up and would have to reschedule? No.
Your time is just as important as theirs. Having to drive the distance that you did someone should have at least acknowledged what happened. At the very least the director could have given you a phone call.

It just may be me, but I have a feeling things are not going to get better. If steps haven't been taken to correct what has already taken place, I doubt it will be done.
It is a tough decision and one with many questions. No one likes to leave what they already know, changed is sometimes hard. But you can't put your stability at risk. Do what you think is right and you will make the right decision.
