confused Hello all I am so glad to have found a site where people are just like myself wow it is wonderful, Well my story hope it doesn't get boring and I hope that you will read it and most of all please give me your opinion I am so open to all, Well I am 34yrs old I have been on a Methadone program for 7yrs now I have medical assistance but I paid out of pocket for it least 3yrs 80.00$ a week but my concern is I was addicted to heroin and was so tried of being that person so I turned to meth for help and it completely turned my life around I gained weight and was actually back to being me again so it truly saved my life once I was able to get stable at a dose that was best for me which they allowed me to go to 100mg anything after that I had to request to see doctor which I did due to still not sleeping and just achy and all well I got to my comfortable dose at 130mg now I never did not pay so I stayed at that same dose for it least 6yrs and my program required us to get a ekg once a year well I did had no problems and I had one in January which came back borderline they send prolonged QT intervals so I was alittle scared but at same time I knew after reading up on it I have a vitamin D problem and have been prescribed vitamin D and at the time had not been taken it so with that said I tried to explain this to the doctor which he did not want to hear it he said I am dropping you from 130mg to 100mg now he did 3mg every day OMG!!!! It was awful I cant believe that affected me that way so I ended up buying 10mg methadone pills from a friend just a few which I took like 1/2 here and there with my dose but I was it least equaling 120-125mg I only didn't take them the 1st few days so I got down to about 119mg and that was it so I started taking them now I bought over the counter vitamin D 2000iu and took 1 every day so it was a month later and today I went to my doctor and she did another EKG which came back normal completely what a relief so I right away called my counselor to inform him the good news and I told him she gave me a copy and I am going to have it faxed he said can you have your doctor write on it I said for what all numbers are very visible that is what they wanted a normal EKG so they can take my dose back up to me it seems as if now I am seeing they are not at all worried about me and it is driving me crazy but I feel it is so un fair to have me suffering when I knew all along it wasn't my heart like that it was the vitamin D and it was causing me to have abnormal EKG please any advice. I am going to go completely crazy If they don't put my dose back up.

Does your primary care provider know that you are attending a clinic? It shouldn't matter I know but I ask because it may be easier for you if he could write a letter to the clinic on your behalf. It's not just you and it's not just your clinic, a lot of other patients are having to go through the same thing.
The clinic gets scared at times like this and their first thought is to cover their own a**
I had already posted to your other post before seeing this and so the response is pretty much the same.
Please keep us posted on how it goes. And above all, please don't give up. Having your life back to normal is worth fighting for

Oh I am not sure of how to search the archives here but I have quite a few articles on here about qtc intervals and how they should not even be used...In fact SAMHSA is no longer requiring that clinics give EKG's anymore it is Rare anyone dies of torsades de pointes in relation to methadone...the fact is methadone can elevate them but like one person in one study died and was using other substances too...plus was HIV positive. and had pneumonia. I also had to go outside of the clinic to get EKG...I take 210 milligrams a day in split dose with no issues.
